Pirates, Royals, and Blue Jays Victorious on Opening Day

The very first day of the baseball season was Sunday and boy were we treated to some great games. There were three games on the day, starting at one and the last game starting at eight.

The Pirates started the season with the 1pm game and they came out on top over the Cardinals. Their starting pitcher, Francisco Liriano, got the first win of the game and recorded the first RBI of 2016.

In the second game, the Blue Jays came out on top in part because of Troy Tulowitzki’s first home run of the season, which also was the MLB’s first. Chris Archer was hard to hit, but when he got hit it didn’t end well. He struck out 12 in five innings, but gave up two earned runs.

The Mets struggled early and couldn’t create a comeback as the game progressed. Matt Harvey didn’t seem like himself, giving up eight hits, three earned runs, and 5.2 innings in his first start of the season. He only struck out two Royal’s hitters on the night.
