Peter Frampton was once the child prodigy lead guitarist of the British group ‘Small Faces,’ but left to join ‘Humble Pie’ in the mid-60s. He wanted more than any band could give him though. He left Humble Pie unexpectedly, and at the time it seemed like a poor decision as Humble Pie’s latest LP hit the big time.
In 1972, Peter released ‘Winds of Change’ with moderate success, but it wasn’t until his double sided ‘Frampton Comes Alive’ in 1976 did he achieve his own stardom. That album proved to be his high water mark; joining the Bee Gees for the ill-fated Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ film in 1978 his low water mark. In spite of his roller-coaster ride through rock and roll, he continues to tour today.
