Fans of Saturday Night Live were looking forward to seeing comedian Pete Davidson take the stage as host for the first time on May 7th, but unfortunately, that will no longer be happening. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has called for a strike, and as a result, the upcoming episode has been canceled.
Davidson, who has been a cast member on the show since 2014, was set to host alongside musical guest Miley Cyrus. This would have been Davidson’s first time hosting the iconic sketch comedy show.
The WGA is currently in negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers over issues such as streaming residuals and workplace conditions. While the strike is certainly a setback for SNL, it’s a necessary move for the WGA to fight for fair treatment of its members.
As for when SNL will return to air new episodes, that remains to be seen. But for now, fans will have to wait a little longer to see Pete Davidson take on the hosting duties.
