Paul Ryder Passed Away, Happy Mondays Bassist Dead at 58

According to consequence.net, Paul Ryder the bassist of Manchester’s Happy Mondays, has passed away at the age of 58 years old. The band along with Paul’s brother, vocalist Shaun Ryder, made the announcement through social media stating that, “The Ryder family and Happy Mondays band members are deeply saddened and shocked to say that Paul Ryder passed away this morning. A true pioneer and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.” Currently no cause of death has been mad epublic for the 58 year old bassist. The Happy Mondays were formed in 1980 by Paul, his brother Shaun, Gary Whelan (drums), Paul Davis (keyboard), and Mark Day (guitar). in 1990, the band put their own spin on John Kongos’ “He’s Gonna Step on You Again, also retitling it to “Step On”, becoming their first international hit. In the 90’s Paul struggled with heroin use, however, there has been no indication as to the ultimate cause of death for the bassist.
