Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has been able to achieve great heights during his time in the NFL. Including two Super Bowls and being a two time league MVP. Like many athletes, he attributes some amount of his success to superstition.
On an appearance of “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” veteran signal caller, Chad Henne stated that some of Mahomes superstitions come from his time as a baseball player. One of the odd superstitions Mahomes apparently has is thathe must wear the same underwear every game day.
Henne stated, “He has to have a certain thing each and every day when he comes in, He does his work. His notes are written out a certain way. Same pair of underwear on game day, which probably not a lot of people know. He’s been wearing it since I’ve been (on the team). … Sunday, it’s the same pair.”
Henne was a part of the Kansas City Chiefs from 2018 through this past season and Mahomes was drafted in the first round of the 2017 draft. In their five years together, Henne was Mahomes’ backup and the pair were able to establish a relationship.
Some may say superstitions are over the top, but Mahomes helped the Chiefs to a 38-35 comeback despite dealing with a high ankle sprain. Throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns on the night. Kansas City has also managed to host the last five consecutive AFC championship games with Mahomes at the helm.
