Pantera to Rock the UK: First Tour in Over Two Decades Set for February

For the first time in more than 20 years, legendary metal band Pantera will be storming the UK concert scene with a highly-anticipated tour this February. The iconic group, renowned for shaping the metal genre, will offer fans a powerful live experience that includes classic hits like “Walk,” “Cowboys From Hell,” and “Cemetery Gates.”

Formed in 1981, Pantera has a storied history filled with monumental successes and tragic setbacks. The current lineup features original members Phil Anselmo on vocals and Rex Brown on bass, along with touring musicians Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante. This configuration marks the band’s resilience and commitment to their craft, despite the profound losses of the Abbott brothers—guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul.

The band’s turbulent past includes a shocking event in December 2004, when Dimebag was tragically killed on stage during a performance with his post-Pantera project, Damageplan. This attack, perpetrated by a deranged fan, left several others dead and many injured, forever altering the band’s trajectory. Vinnie Paul, revered as one of metal’s greatest drummers, continued to make music with bands like Hellyeah until his death in 2018 from coronary artery disease.

Following their official reunion in 2022, Pantera has reignited their presence in the metal world, filling the void left by the Abbott brothers with the talents of Wylde and Benante. Their return has been met with fervent enthusiasm, highlighted by their upcoming appearance at the Download Festival this weekend.

For those unable to attend Download at Donington Park, the February UK tour promises an electrifying opportunity to witness Pantera’s enduring legacy firsthand. Fans can expect a mix of nostalgia and relentless energy, as the band delivers a setlist sure to satisfy long-time followers and new listeners alike.

Tickets for the UK tour will be on sale soon, and given the band’s extensive history and devoted fanbase, they are expected to sell out quickly. This tour not only celebrates Pantera’s indelible impact on metal but also honors the memory of Dimebag and Vinnie Paul, whose influence continues to resonate in every power chord and drumbeat.
