Ozzy Osbourne’s final bow with Black Sabbath is getting another moment in the spotlight, this time on movie screens around the world.
Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning will arrive in cinemas beginning October 28 for a limited theatrical run, bringing the legendary singer’s final performance and Black Sabbath’s historic reunion to fans who were not inside Birmingham’s Villa Park for the original event.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale September 24.
The film captures the massive Back to the Beginning concert staged July 5, 2025, in Birmingham, England, the city where Black Sabbath’s story began more than half a century earlier.
The event brought Ozzy together with guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, putting Black Sabbath’s original lineup onstage together for the first time in more than 20 years.
Ozzy first delivered a solo set before joining his longtime bandmates for Black Sabbath’s final performance.
Already designed as a monumental farewell, the concert took on an entirely different significance when Ozzy died just 17 days later at the age of 76. What had been planned as a celebration of an extraordinary career became the final live chapter of one of rock music’s most recognizable figures.
And Black Sabbath certainly didn’t say goodbye alone.
Back to the Beginning assembled an enormous collection of rock and metal talent, with Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Tool and other artists taking part in the event. The lineup demonstrated just how far the influence of Ozzy and Black Sabbath had traveled since the band’s emergence from Birmingham in the late 1960s.
The theatrical version will offer more than concert footage. The production also includes behind-the-scenes material from the event and reflections from musicians influenced by Ozzy and Sabbath throughout their careers.
Ben Wainwright-Pearce directs the film, with Tim Van Someren responsible for directing the original live concert.
For longtime fans, the movie offers a chance to revisit a performance that became far more historic than anyone could have known when the lights went down at Villa Park.
For everyone else, it is an opportunity to witness the closing moments of a career and a band that helped shape the sound of heavy metal.
Black Sabbath went back to the beginning for its goodbye. Now that goodbye is headed to the big screen.
