The NCAA Tournament is all about underdogs and Cinderella stories and we can’t ever get enough of them. This year there are some pretty fun underdog teams to root for and we think we’ve found the ones that have the best chance at making a lot of teams go home early.
Loyola (Chi) has a team filled with scorers, as they have five guys averaging 10 points or more this season. Those same players all shoot 70% from the free throw line or better. It’s those little things that help underdogs win in the tournament.
Although Davidson has to take on the SEC Champion, Kentucky, they are a good team to root for if you like chaos. They played a tough schedule, playing UNC, UVA and Nevada in non-conference play. Unlike Loyola (Chi), Davidson has three main scorers who combine for 52.5 points per game with the rest of their team averaging much five points or less.
Finally, Murray State comes into this tournament with a 26-5 record and a star player in Jonathan Stark. He’s averaging almost 22 points per game and is shooting 41% from three. Three-point shooting ha always been a way to take down a giant!
