At the end of last week, the rock world lost a very influential musician and artist. John Berry, one of the original Beastie Boys’ members, passed away at the age of just 52. The reports are saying that he died of frontal lobe dementia and no foul play was involved.
Without Berry, we might not have ever known and enjoyed the Beastie Boys, as he is credited to giving the band their name. He didn’t last long with the band, leaving them after their first album, “Polly Wog,” was released. Adam Horowitz would replace him and the band would then turn into the hip hop band that they became.
The band showed their appreciation for Berry even though he wasn’t a part of them for the majority of their time. In fact, he was mentioned during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
John Berry you will be missed by those in the music world and by his family.
