Olivia Rodrigo’s First-Date Test

Olivia Rodrigo, the singer-songwriter behind hits like “Vampire,” has a dating filter that’s as unique as it is cosmic. In a recent interview with Netflix, Rodrigo revealed an unusual question she poses on first dates to help decide if a guy’s a good match: “Would you want to go to space?”

Here’s what she shared about why this question has become her red-flag test:

The Space Deal-Breaker
Rodrigo explained that if her date responds “yes” to wanting to go to space, she sees it as a sign they might be a bit too self-focused for her taste. With a laugh, she added, “If you want to go to space, you’re a little too full of yourself.” The question has become her playful way of gauging compatibility, weeding out those who might be, in her words, a tad too “out there.”

Signature Tees and “Dump Him” Vibes
On her Guts World Tour, Rodrigo has been making her mark not just through music but also fashion statements. Among the tees she’s worn is one that boldly reads “Dump Him” — a shout-out to pop legend Britney Spears. Rodrigo said the shirt is a “classic homage to Miss Britney Spears,” whose rebellious and unapologetic attitude has clearly influenced Rodrigo’s own artistic style.

Team Aidan, Not Big
Rodrigo also revealed her love for the iconic TV series Sex and the City, and she’s got strong opinions about Carrie Bradshaw’s love life. Declaring herself “Team Aidan,” Rodrigo jokingly criticized Chris Noth’s Mr. Big character, saying, “Mr. Big sucks.” She also acknowledged the familiar draw of the Mr. Big type, confessing, “But we’ve all dated guys like that. You can’t let them go. But yeah, Aidan for the win.”

Romance with Louis Partridge
Rodrigo is currently dating Enola Holmes actor Louis Partridge, with the couple sparking rumors late last year. Since then, they’ve gone public with their relationship, including a sweet moment when Rodrigo joined Partridge at the Venice Film Festival in August. She even shared a TikTok showing her support for him, giving fans a glimpse of their affection.

With an unusual dating “red flag” question, bold on-stage style, and sharp pop-culture opinions, Rodrigo keeps proving she’s a star who stays true to herself — and she’s not afraid to share her thoughts on romance, in this world or beyond.
