Olivia Rodrigo gave Lollapalooza 2025 fans an unforgettable surprise when she brought out none other than Weezer during her headlining set on Friday night (Aug. 1) in Chicago’s Grant Park.
Toward the end of her energetic performance, the 22-year-old pop sensation paused to share a personal story with the crowd: “You always remember your first concert,” she said. “For me, it was this incredible band… and they’re here tonight!”
Enter Weezer, who made their long-awaited Lollapalooza return — their first since co-headlining the fest in 2005. Together, they launched into nostalgic renditions of “Buddy Holly” and “Say It Ain’t So,” with Rodrigo strumming guitar and harmonizing alongside Rivers Cuomo like a seasoned alt-rocker.
Fans captured the electric moment on TikTok and X, with Rodrigo’s genuine excitement and reverence for the band lighting up the stage. The collaboration marked yet another surprise guest appearance in Rodrigo’s breakout festival season — she previously invited David Byrne at Governors Ball and Robert Smith at Glastonbury.
Rodrigo’s Lolla set also featured crowd favorites like “Traitor,” “Driver’s License,” and “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl,” solidifying her place as a pop powerhouse with rock roots and fearless creativity.
