Norda’s 001 Is The World’s First Seamless Dyneema Trail Sneaker

When Canadian footwear label norda were unable to find performance sneakers that housed the perfect combination of fit, cushion, grip, weight, breathability and material innovation, they decided to craft their own. Inspired by Canada’s toughest conditions, norda utilised bio-sourced Dyneema to create the world’s first seamless and lightest trail running shoe in the new 001 LTD Edition for both Men and Women.

As the Dyneema website states, “our invention of an ultra-strong, ultra-light material has inspired industries to transform the performance of countless products and applications. Today, Dyneema® the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) is protecting the health and lives of millions of people, and enabling industry to work smarter.”

One of the big tenets of norda’s mission is sustainability, and “to get the best performance out of the world’s best materials while leaving the lightest footprint possible. We are obsessed by durability over disposability. And we are constantly optimizing our packaging, shipping, sourcing and manufacturing options because innovation matters here too.”

For the shoe design, the upper boasts abrasion resistance and minimal bulk, is super lightweight and sits atop a cushioned Vibram midsole for ultimate comfort. Each sneaker is cut by lasers and stitched by hand, and boasts a custom-designed insole engineered for energy absorption and restitution.

Arriving in three colorways of limited-edition orange, black and white, norda’s 001 are available to buy now from the norda website.  But this kind of technology doesn’t come cheap.  The shoes retail for almost $300.
