Christopher Nolan’s long-rumored adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey is already making waves—literally and figuratively. Though the teaser was intended for theaters only, leaked footage has surfaced online ahead of its official debut alongside Jurassic World Rebirth.
The 70-second teaser, filmed entirely with IMAX cameras, offers a tantalizing glimpse into Nolan’s ambitious reimagining of the ancient epic. Matt Damon appears as the war-weary Odysseus, Tom Holland portrays his determined son Telemachus, and Jon Bernthal plays a mysterious character shrouded in rumor.
The footage teases the aftermath of the Trojan War, showing the iconic wooden horse half-sunken along the shore and ominous shots of stormy seas. Narration by Robert Pattinson alludes to a shattered kingdom and Odysseus’ impossible victory at Troy.
In a moody exchange, Bernthal’s character stokes Telemachus’ desperation to find his missing father. Rumors swirl — Odysseus is dead, rich, poor, imprisoned — but no one knows for sure. The teaser ends with Damon’s Odysseus adrift at sea, clinging to life.
With a massive ensemble cast including Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Charlize Theron, The Odyssey promises Nolan’s signature cinematic spectacle when it premieres July 17, 2026.
