Nike’s Original Moon Shoe is Back

The rumors are true. Nike has pulled its iconic Moon Shoe out of the archives and is finally giving the sneaker its first general release in over 60 years.

As Hypebae reports, originally launched in 1971 as a predecessor to Nike’s track and field classics like the Oregon Waffle, the Moon Shoe never got a fully-fledged public release. Decades later, the Swoosh is changing that, and to say fans are stoked would be an understatement.

After soft-launching the Moon Shoe’s return with a softer, more pillowy collaboration with Jacquemus, the sneaker is officially dropping in three colorways this spring. The vintage style is back like it never left, fitting perfectly into Nike’s current footwear selection. Arriving in a mustard yellow shade, navy blue and classic white and black, this drop is going to be everywhere this summer.

Maintaining all the charm of the original Moon Shoe, the 2026 reconstruction stays faithful to the source material. A near perfect recreation, the waffle outsole and timeless silhouette transcend trends for the perfect mix of sporty and chic.

The Moon Shoe is set to drop on Nike SNKRS starting April 3, with a wider release available on the Nike website from May 7.
