Nickelback Defends “Deadpool & Wolverine” with Hilarious Video

Canadians stick together! Nickelback shared a video on Tuesday (July 23) defending the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film from any potential criticism. In the clip, all four band members don Deadpool and Wolverine masks before deciding they are too itchy and unmasking themselves.

“We’re Nickelback, experts in navigating irrational hate in the face of tremendous success,” frontman Chad Kroeger states. “We have an important preemptive message for anyone thinking of criticizing the film Deadpool & Wolverine or Ryan Reynolds.”

Kroeger then highlights the franchise’s achievements, noting that the first two Deadpool films grossed over $1.5 billion and garnered accolades such as two Critics Choice Awards, four MTV Movie & TV Awards, a GLAAD Award, a People’s Choice Award, and two Teen Choice Awards, among others.

“As for Mr. Ryan Reynolds, just look at this photograph,” Kroeger says, as a picture of Reynolds appears on screen and Nickelback’s 2005 hit “Photograph” begins to play. “That is a beautiful Canadian man right there.”

Nickelback’s video humorously parodies a 2018 Once Upon a Deadpool teaser, where Reynolds’ Deadpool defends the band after someone likened the Marvel franchise to “if the Beatles were produced by Nickelback. It’s music, but it sucks.”

“I’ve had it with all this Nickelback hating. You think that makes you cool with the cool kids in school?” Deadpool retorts in the teaser, listing Nickelback’s accomplishments, including selling 50 million albums worldwide and numerous nominations and awards.
