According to hollywoodreporter.com, Netflix will be debuting a Teletubbies reboot in November as a part of a group of shows that are aimed at young kids in the coming months. The show will have the four Teletubbies interacting and discovering the world around them as it is narrated by Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Tituss Burgess. The show is set to premiere on November 14th, with two other shows set to join Netflix’s preschool lineup; Spirit Rangers on October 10th, and Princess Power in 2023. There will also be new seasons of Waffles + Mochi’s Restaurant and Gabby’s Dollhouse as well as, new iterations of StoryBots and Cocomelon. Teletubbies originated on the BBC in 1997 and first aired in the United States on PBS a year later. In 1999 the show was accused by Jerry Falwell of pushing LGBTQ propaganda on children because Tinky Winky carries a bag and because “he is purple — the gay-pride color; and his antenna is shaped like a triangle — the gay-pride symbol.” The controversy had the opposite effect giving it a huge boost in viewership. The shows production company was quote din responding by saying, that Tinky Winky is “not gay. He’s not straight. He’s just a character in a children’s series. I think that we should just let the Teletubbies go and play in Teletubbyland and not try to define them.”
