Neil Diamond has become the most recent artist to follow the trend of making a top-dollar deal by selling his song catalog and recording rights.
Diamond did his business with Universal Music Group, but a value was not disclosed. The agreement, however, was detailed to include rights to all of Diamond’s recordings, 110 unreleased tracks, and an unreleased album.
Diamond and UMG have a historical relationship, as the iconic artist recorded with Universal’s MCA Records between 1968 and 1972. Universal has also been Diamond’s publishing administrator for several years.
