Neil and Barbara Streisand were classmates in New York while attending Erasmus HS in Brooklyn. Oddly enough, although they both sang in the school choir, they didn’t hang together and weren’t pals.
Neil is a prolific song writer, we know the tunes he penned for himself. What you may not know is that he also wrote hits for the Monkees (“I’m a Believer” and “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You”) and UB40 (“Red Red Wine”).
Neil Diamond has sold over 130 million records, earning a Golden Globe for ‘Best Original Song’ for The Jazz Singer, Grammy (Best Score/Soundtrack Visual Media for Jonathan Livingston Seagull), and Billboard awards. He’s also been nominated for a Primetime Emmy and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
You may think his name is a business or celebrity name, but no his birth name is actually Neil Leslie Diamond!
