Neil Diamond Earns ‘Johnny Mercer’ Award

Neil Diamond is in the final stages of winding down his illustrious career, one filled with incredible records sales, radio airplay, and honors. Well, he’s about to add yet another honor to his resume, as he’s about to receive the coveted ‘Johnny Mercer Award’ during the 2018 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards dinner. The festivities will take place June 14 ceremony in New York City, given to the artist that given to a member whose career reflects ‘high quality and impact’ that represents the high standard set by historic songwriter Johnny Mercer.

This year’s Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees will include country star Alan Jackson, Kool & the Gang, John Mellencamp, and Jermaine Dupri. In a special honor, Sara Bareilles will receive the Hal David Starlight Award, named after one of the most influential songwriters of our time, Hal David. Previous winners of the Johnny Mercer award are Van Morrison, Carole King, Lionel Richie, Paul Simon, Phil Collins, Billy Joel and Elton John. The 2018 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards dinner will take place in New York City June 14th.
