Need Home Renovation Help? Time to Binge Watch!

From simple fixes to major overhauls, home improvement shows are both wildly entertaining and incredibly inspirational, and lucky for you, Netflix has plenty of offerings for both novice and professional DIYers. If you’re looking for your latest project (or simply want to watch other people transform their spaces from the comfort of your own), try binging on one of these series.

Reno My Reno dives into the world of cottage reno projects gone wrong. In each episode, top notch carpenter Dave Depencier and his team turn disaster reno projects into a little piece of cottage perfection. Along the way they right all the wrongs and teach the culprit behind the reno project how to do things properly. In just a couple days, Dave and his team whip these misguided DIYers into shape to create outstanding transformations, leading to jaw dropping reveals.

The Great Interior Design Challenge.  Hosted by architectural historian Tom Dyckhoff, this British interior design competition series pits participants against one another as they make over rooms for their assigned clients, as well as complete an additional small task, such as upscaling an antique. Buzz Feed recently gave “31 Reasons Why Great Interior Design Challenge is the Best Show on Television.”  If you’re looking for inexpensive and innovative ways to transform a space, then this one’s for you.

Fix It and Finish It.  This series seeks houses, cabins and even RV’s with rooms in desperate need of a makeover.  After meeting with homeowners, a team of contractors and designers decides how to perform each renovation. The team then gets to work on the project, which has to be completed quickly. Actor Antonio Sabato Jr. is the host of the show to introduce segments, and –occasionally — he heads to the location where the design team is working. When the room is fully transformed, the team presents the homeowners with “the reveal.” And by the way, when the team presents the homeowners with “the reveal,” you better prepare yourself to get a little weepy.
