According to cnn.com, NBA’s LeBron James is expanding his portfolio via being a part of a consortium that is buying an expansion franchise in Major League Pickleball as the teams grow from 12 to 16 teams. The consortium is made up of fellow NBA players Kevin Love, Draymond Green, James’ lifelong friend and business partner, Maverick Carter, and others. MLP founder, Steve Kuhn is quoted in saying that “Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the country, building communities in cities and towns all over the world, This investment and the platform that this group provides will significantly help us with our goal to reach 40 million pickleball players by 2030.” MLP also states that they hope to announce more investments to a list that is already made up of Drew Brees, Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry, and former world number four tennis player James Blake.
