With the All-Star game come and gone, the rumors and trades around the NBA are really heating up. We’ve seen our first major deal of the year occur with the Pistons and Magic making a move already. This trade and more are the big headlines of the week.
The Pistons and Magic made a three-player deal that sent Tobias Harris to the Detroit Pistons and Ersan Ilyasova/Brandon Jennings to the Magic. This type of deal allows for the Magic to clear enough cap space for two max contracts over the offseason. It also gives the Pistons a young Harris, who has serious potential, but also is controlled for a few more years.
Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Clippers and Magic are talking about making a deal involving the Magic’s Channing Frye and the Clippers’ Lance Stephenson.
The big name amongst the trade rumors is Dwight Howard. With the Rockets reeling, the thought is that they’ll trade Howard to the Heat, Hornets, or maybe another team to get rid of his expiring contract and gain some value out of him before he leaves.
One move the Hornets did complete was receiving Courtney Lee from the Grizzlies. It was a three-team deal that involved the Heat as well. The Heat received Brian Roberts, while the Grizzlies acquired two second round picks.
