The MTV Video Music Awards are celebrating their 40th anniversary in style, with a red-hot lineup that promises an unforgettable night. Megan Thee Stallion will host the event, while Eminem, fresh off his latest chart-topping album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), is set to open the show. Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, two of the year’s hottest artists, are also among the performers.
The 2024 VMAs will air live from New York’s UBS Arena at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Katy Perry, a past VMA winner and host, will be honored with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award and perform a hit-filled medley. Cyndi Lauper, the first recipient of the Best Female Video award at the 1984 VMAs, and Carson Daly, former host of TRL, will present awards.
Eminem is up for eight nominations, with his hit “Houdini” competing in six categories, including Video of the Year and Song of the Summer. If he wins just one award, he will surpass Peter Gabriel for the most wins by a male artist in VMA history. Taylor Swift leads the pack with 12 nominations, and if she wins five or more, she’ll break Beyoncé’s record for the most VMAs ever won.
The 2024 VMAs will be broadcast across multiple channels, including MTV, BET, and Univision, with a pre-show kicking off at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT.
