Movies Opening This Weekend – May 19th, 2017 [videos]

This weekend Hollywood brings the goods, touching all the bases. Bryan Cranston, Billy Crudup, Jennifer Garner, Alicia Silverstone, Tom Everett, Jason O’Mara and Beverly D’Angelo remind all of us why we love to go to the movies. ‘Everything, Everything’ is the most romantic and innocent film of the year, and you must see this film.

There’s a wonderful comedy about a wholesome family traveling to celebrate someone’s 90th birthday. They get sidetracked, and buy a ticket to chaos in the most unusual place. ‘The Commune’ is a period piece about the Danish community in the 1970s, and a Ridley Scott reprise of the ‘Alien’ thriller franchise.

Our pick of the week is called ‘Wakefield,’ starring Bryan Cranston. Brian comes home one night, and instead of going in for the night, watches his wife and kids from a window, imagining how his family would react if he were never to come at all? His nervous breakdown causes him to go missing, and his family begins a journey that he witnesses from his hiding place. The outcome is not what he expected.

Enjoy the movies this weekend, we always do!

A business man has a nervous breakdown causing him to pretend that he’s missing, hoping to see how his family would react. The Commune (2016)
(NR) 111 min – Drama
Director: Thomas Vinterberg
Stars: Fares Fares, Trine Dyrholm, Ulrich Thomsen, Julie Agnete Vang

The Danish commune in the 1970s was much like America in the 60s; lots of unfettered affection and non-commitment. Like the 60s however, nothing is ever free. If you like foreign films that stay on course with traditional and recognizable themes, this film will entertain you. There are a few adult themes that suggest this to be a mom and dad film.
