Hollywood is place where dreams come true, and the stars come out to play. Jackie Chan, Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Kate Beckinsale and Liam Neeson will kick off this upcoming weekend in the New Year in style.
There are vampires, monsters and plenty of drama as a young boy seeks the help of a tree monster to help mend his mother played by Sigourney Weaver. A serious home invasion from the film The Ardennes will leave you at your seats edge, while Jackie Chan reprises his comedic athletic role in Railroad Tigers.
Enjoy the movies this weekend – I always do!
Railroad Tigers (2016)

Director: Ding Sheng
Stars: Jackie Chan, Jaycee Chan, Zitao Huang, Kai Wang
Jackie Chan is a brave railroad worker in the early 1940s in China, leading a band of freedom fighters against the Japanese military to get lifesaving food to the poor. Action is the word that best describes this film. [watch trailer]

Stars: Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Lewis MacDougall, Liam Neeson
His mom is very ill, so a boy elicits a tree monster to save the day. This film is as odd as it is compelling. It’s not a comedy, rather closer to a mythical tragedy in vibe. [watch trailer]
Underworld: Blood Wars (2016)

I, Daniel Blake (2016)
(R) 100 min – Drama
Director: Ken Loach
Stars: Dave Johns, Hayley Squires, Sharon Percy, Briana Shann
This film is the heartwarming story of two middle aged middle class Englanders who share unemployment, sorrow, and hope for a new tomorrow. This is a heavily British film with thick dialect, but will give you hope as we grow old. The Sundance Film Festival and Cannes were quite taken with this movie. [watch trailer]
The Ardennes (2015)
(NR) 96 min – Drama
Director: Robin Pront
Stars: Kevin Janssens, Jeroen Perceval, Veerle Baetens, Jan Bijvoet
If you’re a fan of foreign films, this movie is the pick for you this weekend. A home invasion goes wrong, as two brothers breaking into a wealthy home are confronted by the family, causing one to run, while the other is caught and spends time in prison. The story line thickens with the film moving to what happens after the intruder is paroled. [watch trailer]
