Movies Opening This Weekend – January 27th, 2016 [videos]

Hollywood’s offering this weekend is light on quantity, but heavy on star power and wonderful movies. Matthew McConaughey stars in a film about an unusual pair of treasure hunters in the Indonesian jungle, finding gold, and the pitfalls of betrayal and death that come along with it. There are two foreign films from prominent directors that will entertain the brightest movie goer.

Our pick of the week is an interesting film called ‘A Dog’s Purpose,’ the story of a dog that has many lives, reincarnating through a journey of love and families.

Un Padre No Tan Padre (2016)

An 85-year-old Mexican patriarch is thrown out of his retirement home, only to find that his youngest son is willing to take him in. The two discover they have more in common than they thought. A Dog’s Purpose (2017)

Stars: Britt Robertson, Dennis Quaid, Josh Gad, Peggy Lipton

The entire family will enjoy this film, a touching story of a dog that continues to come back in multiple lives, loving the families he spends time with. If you’ve ever wondered where your family pet goes after death, this movie will enlighten and inspire. [watch trailer]

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016)

The only remaining survivors of the apocalypse band together to fight the evil that remains on earth. If you’re a fan of futuristic films, this film pushes the envelope. [watch trailer]

Gold (2016)

The Salesman (2016)

This film has earned international awards and is one of the best foreign films to hit the silver screen in years. This thriller leads a couple through intrigue and suspense as they discover they are not alone in their search for truth. [watch trailer]
