Mötley Crüe Rolls Into The Troubadour in Style, Kicks Off Höllywood Takeöver Tour

No one makes an entrance quite like Mötley Crüe. The iconic rock band—Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, and John 5—kicked off their Höllywood Takeöver tour on October 7 with a small-venue show at The Troubadour, and their arrival was anything but conventional. True to their rebellious spirit, the band rolled up to the venue in a garbage truck, much to the delight of their fans.

In a video shared by the band on YouTube, the garbage truck pulls up, and the rockers emerge in a scene that’s both chaotic and classic Crüe. Tommy Lee, 62, dives out of the truck into a pile of trash bags and an old mattress, quickly followed by his bandmates as the crowd erupts in cheers. The band, mic’d up and ready to rock, then walks through the throng of fans gathered outside before heading inside to take the stage for their set.

Höllywood Takeöver: A Unique Experience for Fans
The Troubadour show was the first of three intimate performances planned for Mötley Crüe’s Höllywood Takeöver tour, which hits Los Angeles’ iconic small venues. The band will also perform at The Roxy on October 9 and Whiskey a Go Go on October 11. These smaller, intimate shows offer fans a rare chance to see the band up close, in contrast to the arena shows they’ve headlined over the years.

The shows coincide with the release of their new EP, Cancelled, which dropped on October 4. The EP features three tracks: the title track “Cancelled,” “Dogs of War,” and a cover of the Beastie Boys’ classic “Fight for Your Right.” The performances are an opportunity for the band to dive into some rarely performed tracks alongside their biggest hits.

“We want to just relook at our songs and [incorporate] songs that people have been asking us to play for a long time,” Nikki Sixx explained. The band’s setlist includes B-sides and deeper cuts, offering fans a new experience while still delivering the hits they’ve come to expect.

Mötley Crüe’s Setlist Evolution
While the band is known for their classic anthems like “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Kickstart My Heart,” Sixx shared that his connection to certain songs has evolved over the years. “We are playing ‘On with the Show’ now from the first record, and something feels so fresh and exciting about it,” he said. “Primal Scream” has also become a favorite, though Sixx was quick to affirm that old-school staples like “Home Sweet Home” still resonate with both the band and the audience.

Mötley Crüe’s commitment to keeping things fresh is also evident in their plans for their upcoming Las Vegas residency, which Sixx teased would not simply be a repeat of past shows. “We want to do something special for Vegas,” he said, hinting at more surprises for fans down the road.

A Legendary Band in Their Element
As Mötley Crüe continues to push the envelope with their larger-than-life antics and dedication to performing, the Höllywood Takeöver tour is a testament to their enduring appeal. Fans who’ve been following the band for decades are in for a unique treat, and those new to the scene will see why the Crüe remains one of the most electrifying bands in rock.

The band’s chaotic entrance at The Troubadour set the tone for a tour that’s equal parts nostalgic and forward-thinking, offering both the hits that built their legacy and the new music that proves Mötley Crüe is still in top form.
