Morgan Wallen Breaks Silence on Sudden SNL Exit: “I Was Just Ready to Go Home”

Morgan Wallen has finally addressed his abrupt exit from the Saturday Night Live stage last month — and his explanation is as casual as it gets. Appearing on Sundae Conversations with host Caleb Pressley, Wallen shrugged off the drama, saying simply, “No, no, I was just ready to go home. I been there all week.”

The country star’s quick departure during the live cast goodbyes stirred plenty of conversation. “Weekend Update” hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che even worked jokes about it into the next episode, while SNL veteran Kenan Thompson admitted the moment “felt so abrupt” and questioned Wallen’s cryptic Instagram post: a private jet photo captioned “Get me to God’s country.”

Wallen didn’t elaborate further, but the incident fueled a fresh wave of memes — and merchandise — with “God’s Country” slogans launching just days later.

Although Wallen only performed that night, reports suggested he declined a chance to appear in a skit, ultimately being replaced by Joe Jonas.

This wasn’t Wallen’s first SNL controversy; he was previously dropped from a 2020 episode for violating COVID-19 protocols, later returning for a musical performance and a self-referential sketch.

Whether drama or departure, Wallen certainly knows how to keep people talking.
