The numbers are in, and Morgan Wallen and Kendrick Lamar are leading the charge in 2025’s music landscape. According to Luminate’s Midyear Music Report, Wallen’s I’m the Problem topped U.S. album consumption for the first half of the year, racking up 2.562 million equivalent album units since its May release. It marks yet another chart triumph for Wallen, who previously led 2021 and 2023 with Dangerous and One Thing at a Time.
Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar teamed up with SZA for the year’s most-streamed song to date: “Luther,” which generated over 530 million on-demand audio streams. The success is part of a larger win for Kendrick, whose solo release GNX also ranks third among top albums, with 1.706 million units.
Other heavy hitters include SZA’s SOS, Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, reflecting a strong showing from both pop and Latin music.
Notably, vinyl continues to thrive, with Kendrick’s GNX selling 226,000 units in the format.
Despite a dip in overall album sales, on-demand audio streaming is up 4.6%—a clear sign that listeners are favoring digital platforms more than ever.
From country to hip-hop, 2025’s midyear music scene proves genre lines are blurrier than ever—and the charts have never looked more diverse.
