More Feel Good Songs from Back in the Day

Great music puts a smile on our faces, brings joy to our hearts, and makes us feel good when we hear the tune. Here are a few more ‘Feel Good’ songs…

‘Chase’ hit the charts in 1971 with the horn heavy, upbeat song “Get It On.” The band hailed from Squantum, Massachusetts, hitting the charts with their supercharged hit. Chase was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys, losing to Carly Simon. Like all good Rock and Roll tragedies, Bill Chase and three of his band members died in a horrific plane crash in Jackson, Minn. on August 9, 1974 in route to a gig.

This four-man group from Los Angeles called ‘The Standells’ were thought to be the very first punk band of music. The Standells hit it big with their song “Dirty Water” in 1966. They got their name because they found themselves ‘standing’ so much waiting to see recorded executives. We kid you not. “Dirty Water” is an anthem for Boston, yet none of the members of the band had ever been to Boston prior of the release of the song. Ed Cobb the song writer was once robbed in Boston standing on the bridge overlooking the river Charles, thus the Boston references in the tune.
