More Country Stars Who Have Gone Pop

Songs can be like by all kinds of music fans. Some rock fans love jazz, other pop fans love country. We call singles played on different radio stations cross over’s. Here are a few country singers that had success in pop music…

Shania Twain is still considered my most to be the best crossover in her day, as this Canadian singer is now the bestselling female artist of all time, having sold over 150 million records thus far in her career. If it were not for her brief marriage to Mutt Lange, we might consider Shania a country star who sold a few albums. Mutt was a rock and roll producer (legendary success with studio work for Def Leppard, Huey Lewis and the News, and Foreigner) and molded the sound of Shania to be a world class performer.

John Denver was an early country star (“Thank God I’m a Country Boy”) but his Rocky Mountain High sound and pop writing made him a middle of the road-mainstream star on the 70s and 80s. John proved that a great song was all you needed to earn fans from all walks of life.

Faith Hill gave us “Breath,” “The Way You Love Me,” “The Kiss” and more, crossing over from country to Pop quite easily.
