More 1 Hit Wonders to Remember

Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then. In the music business we call these ‘lucky once’ bands ‘One Hit Wonder’s.’ Here are a few we think are worthy of sharing….

“Pilot of the Airwaves” from Charlie Dore in the in the 70s came out of nowhere – bet you didn’t know the song would be a hit, as a Christian song? Speaking of A Capella tunes, Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy” was a #1 song completely A Capella.

“Magnet and Steel” by Walter Egan was a Top 10 Hit from August of 1978, a haunting ballad/melody from an unusual singer.

Freda Payne and her “Band of Gold” proved to be a winner on the radio, while Johnny Bristol’s “Hang On in There Baby” caught fire in Europe before making it up in the charts in the US.

The Knack hit the charts with “My Sharona” and Carl Douglas warned us that “Everybody Was Kung Foo Fighting.”
