MLB’s Pitching Leaders – ERA

Just yesterday we took a look at the home run leaders in Major League Baseball, so today we figured we’d look at pitchers and one of the biggest stats for them – ERA. Earned run average is determined by runs given up per 9 innings and let’s just say some of these guys on the list have tiny ERAs.

The list is headed up by Clayton Kershaw, who even though is injured, qualifies for this stat and has the lead by a wide margin. He is followed by Max Scherzer before surprise pitcher, Gio Gonzalez, ranks third. Those two are Nationals’ pitchers, leading the team to what could be a fun playoff run.

Before we list the top 10, it is worth noting surprises among them like Aaron Nola and Marcus Stroman who have really been great in 2017. Let’s take a look at that top 10…

1. Clayton Kershaw – 2.04
2. Max Scherzer – 2.25
3. Gio Gonzalez – 2.49
4. Chris Sale – 2.51
5. Corey Kluber – 2.71
6. Marcus Stroman – 2.99
7. Zack Greinke – 3.01
8. Aaron Nola – 3.02
9. Lance Lynn – 3.05
10. Stephen Strasburg – 3.25
