With Spring Training officially underway for many of the teams, if not all, in the MLB, it’s time we get to some fun storylines for the season. Predictions and projections are everywhere and surprisingly, there are a few sites that predict the Kansas City Royals will be playing .500 or worse this year. Huh? Let’s take a look at real storylines of the 2016 season…
Bryce Harper has recently discussed the possibility of him being a $400 million contract player when his next contract is up in a few years. He’s coming off a 42 home run, .330 batting average season where he was just 22 years old… Amazing. Fangraphs recently posted an article about how him making $500 in his next contract would be a bargain, that’s how good he is.
The San Francisco Giants made a ton of moves in the offseason, bringing in Jeff Samardzija and Jeff Samardzija among a few others. They have also let Tim Lincecum, once a stud young pitcher for them, go and find a place to pitch outside of San Francisco. The new team will have a new sort of chemistry, so we’re curious to see how they gel this upcoming season.
One very crazy storyline for the season is how bad will the bottom dwellers of the National League East be? The Atlanta Braves have made move after move for the future, unloading their biggest contracts in the previous two offseasons. Guys like Evan Gattis, Justin/Melvin Upton, Andrelton Simmons, Jason Heyward, and Shelby Miller are no longer wearing the Braves uniform. Will the Braves be able to win 65 games in 2016? That 65 win total is where Vegas has them pegged for over/under wins this upcoming season.
