According to the Hollywood Reporter, The Rise of Gru, is headed towards a four day opening of $127.9 million dollars domestically, according to estimates so far. Including a $108.5 million for three days, however, the number may shift either way once the numbers are updated later on today, Monday the fourth. Overseas the movie is also seeing $86 million through Sunday, for a global accumulation of $200 million dollars. The Illumination and Universal film will have one of the top starts ever at the domestic box office for an animated Hollywood tentpole, also not adjusted for inflation. It is assumed that higher priced Imax locations also helped, with $8.6 million domestically. Minions 2 will be only the 10th animated Hollywood film to debut at $100 million or more. A list that is currently led by Incredibles 2 at $182.7 million.
