Miley Cyrus Explains “WAP” to Monica Lewinsky—and Reclaims Her Own Narrative

Miley Cyrus isn’t holding anything back—especially not when it comes to educating Monica Lewinsky on Gen Z slang. On the latest episode of Lewinsky’s podcast Reclaiming, the pop star hilariously—and candidly—explained the meaning of the viral acronym “WAP,” sparking a thoughtful conversation about judgment, public image, and owning your story.

In a clip shared ahead of the episode’s release, Lewinsky admits she’s never heard of “WAP,” prompting Cyrus to burst into laughter. “Are we telling Monica Lewinsky what WAP is?” she quips before spelling it out. “It stands for Wet A– P—-. Okay?”

Cyrus then reflects on her controversial 2013 MTV VMA performance, contrasting the backlash she faced with the celebration surrounding Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s provocative WAP performance at the Grammys. “I dressed as a teddy bear and got shamed,” she said. “But Cardi B isn’t for kids… I was like a babysitter for America’s children.”

The conversation underscores Reclaiming’s mission: to explore how people take back control of their stories. The episode arrives just as Cyrus celebrates the success of her ninth album Something Beautiful, continuing her evolution from child star to unfiltered icon with a message of authenticity and power.
