Messi Makes History Again: Inter Miami Star Sets MLS Record with Fourth Straight Brace

Lionel Messi continues to defy expectations, setting yet another record in Major League Soccer. The 38-year-old Argentine superstar scored twice in Inter Miami’s 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on Wednesday night, becoming the first player in MLS history to score multiple goals in four consecutive league matches.

The historic performance took place at Gillette Stadium, where Messi first punished a defensive error and then finished with class on a pinpoint pass from longtime teammate Sergio Busquets. The goals brought his season tally to 14, just two behind league leader Sam Surridge.

“Leo is the best to ever play this sport,” said Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano. “And he’s still showing us why, week after week.”

Despite initial plans to rest Messi due to a packed schedule, Mascherano kept him on after New England’s early goal. The decision paid off as Messi lifted Miami to victory, marking their second straight win since exiting the Club World Cup.

With three games in hand and momentum on their side, Inter Miami is pushing up the Eastern Conference standings. Messi also now holds the most goals against New England since joining MLS—seven and counting.

Next up: a home clash against Nashville SC this Saturday.
