Meghan Trainor brought infectious energy to The Tonight Show with her dynamic performance of “Whoops” on June 10. The upbeat track, now her fourth single from the album Timeless, has already captivated fans with its catchy tune and vibrant music video, released earlier this week. Accompanied by a lively group of dancers, Trainor delivered a spirited rendition of the song, which highlights her signature blend of pop and self-empowerment themes.
After the performance, Trainor joined host Jimmy Fallon to discuss her latest album. During their conversation, she revealed the personal inspiration behind Timeless. Trainor explained that the album was born from her reflections on motherhood and her desire to create enduring music. “After having my baby, I was hit with this crazy fear of not living forever,” she shared. “I wish I was timeless. I want to write music that people will love for hundreds of years.”
Timeless is a heartfelt exploration of Trainor’s journey through self-love, especially as she navigates life as a new mother. She hopes the album will resonate with listeners facing similar challenges. “It’s all the stuff I’m going through as a mom: trying to learn to love myself after two C-sections and being kinder to myself. I hope it makes [people] smile,” she said on Today earlier this week.
The conversation with Fallon also took a playful turn when the two engaged in the “Singing Whisper Challenge,” featuring songs like Hanson’s “MMMBop” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.”
Trainor’s Timeless follows her 2022 release Takin’ It Back, known for hits like “Made You Look” and “Bad For Me” featuring Teddy Swims. With the new album, she continues to evolve her sound while staying true to her roots in pop and self-affirmation.
Adding to the excitement, Trainor announced her first tour in seven years, kicking off this summer. The tour will feature performances at major venues including the Kia Forum in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York. Fans can look forward to a mix of new tracks from Timeless and beloved hits from her past albums, promising an unforgettable experience.
