Megan Thee Stallion Files Restraining Order Against Tory Lanez

Megan Thee Stallion has filed a restraining order against Tory Lanez, claiming that the rapper, currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her in July 2020, continues to harass her from behind bars.

In a comprehensive 194-page legal document, Megan’s lawyers describe Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) as a “violent and dangerous criminal” whose continued actions warrant the restraining order to protect Megan (real name Megan Pete) and her well-being.

Harassment Allegations from Prison
According to the filing, Lanez has used his time in prison to perpetuate harassment, employing third-party “bloggers” to defame Megan and allegedly coordinating payments to these individuals through his father. The document names Elizabeth Milagro Cooper, whom Megan previously sued for harassment, as one of Lanez’s alleged proxies.

Megan’s lawyers argue that the harassment has left her emotionally distressed and fearful for her safety, especially given the absence of an active protective order. A previous restraining order, effective from 2020 through 2023, expired earlier this year.

“Ms. Pete is left without protection at a time when she needs it most,” her legal team wrote, adding that Megan fears Lanez’s actions will escalate upon his release from prison.

A Lingering Trauma
Lanez was convicted in December 2022 on three felony counts, including assault with a firearm, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Megan recounted the traumatic incident in her Prime Video documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: Her Words, released in October.

In the documentary, Megan reflected on the toll the shooting and its aftermath have taken on her:

“I really thought that once he got sentenced and went off to jail, I was going to be a new woman… But I still, every day, have to deal with people mad at me because I said what happened to me.”

Seeking Protection and Justice
The restraining order underscores Megan’s ongoing struggle for peace following the shooting and its fallout. Her legal team asserts that without additional measures, Megan will remain vulnerable to both Lanez’s influence and the harassment she has endured for over three years.

The rapper continues to focus on her career while advocating for her safety, determined to regain control of her life.
