Megan Thee Stallion has never shied away from expressing her love for anime and cosplay, and she’s once again wowed fans with her latest tribute. On Tuesday (July 9), the Houston rapper donned a meticulously crafted Sailor Moon costume while performing the viral dance to her hit single “Mamushi,” featuring Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba.
Megan took to Instagram and TikTok to share a Reel and video showcasing her flawless Sailor Moon look. As she danced to the lyrics, “I get money, I’m a star, star, star/ Star, star, star, star,” she radiated the energy of the beloved anime character. Her outfit included a long blonde wig with red barrettes and bangs, a white and blue mini flared dress, a big red bow, and long white gloves.
The 29-year-old’s Sailor Moon costume was hand-sewn by costume designer Bex, who documented the creation process on her X account. “Girl, I was about to quit sewing back in 2020 because some stylist screwed me over,” Bex shared. “Instead, I persevered and kept going. Four years later, I have my dream commission on Megan Thee Stallion. Bro, never give up.”
“HOT girl Sailor Moon outfit SEWED BY ME! Love you, Megan!” Bex added in another post, also sharing Megan’s video doing the “Mamushi” challenge in the outfit.
Megan’s love for anime and Japan is well-documented. In March, she traveled to Japan, where she embraced other anime looks and connected with fans who helped popularize the “Mamushi” dance. “We made it to JAPAN,” she wrote while channeling Satoru Gojo from the Jujutsu Kaisen series. Fans praised her cosplay, with one writing, “MISS GOJO THEE STALLION, you alone are the honored one,” and another calling her, “HOT GIRL SATORUUUUUU.”
During her time in Tokyo, Megan also tried various local foods, including a live sea critter she humorously dubbed a “sea c**chie.” “I’m warning you right now there is a lot of screaming in this video,” she captioned a vlog of her culinary adventures. “I have tried some very delicious and very interesting foods while being in JAPAN. I don’t wanna leaveee.”
Megan also visited the iconic Hello Kitty store in Osaka, ensuring her trip was filled with the anime and cultural experiences she loves.
