Mastodon Returns With New Album and Josh Homme Powered Single

Mastodon is entering a new chapter with the announcement of its ninth studio album, *Marrow Deep*, arriving August 28. Alongside the announcement, the Grammy-winning metal band has released the album’s latest single, “Snakes for Dinner,” featuring a guest appearance from Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.

The new track arrives with a darkly humorous music video and reunites Homme with the band for the first time in two decades. His previous collaboration with Mastodon came on the band’s acclaimed 2006 album *Blood Mountain*.

*Marrow Deep* marks a significant milestone for the Atlanta group. It is the band’s first full-length release in five years and the first created following the passing of longtime guitarist and vocalist Brent Hinds. The album also introduces guitarist Nick Johnston as an official member, while keyboardist João Nogueira contributes throughout the project.

Recorded at the band’s West End Sound studio in Atlanta, the album was co-produced by Mastodon with Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou. The group says the recording sessions reflected a renewed sense of purpose and creative energy as the current lineup came together.

Bassist Troy Sanders says the band has rediscovered the enthusiasm that fueled its earliest years, describing a united group eager to create new music and continue moving forward.

Following the album’s release, Mastodon will take the new material on the road as part of the upcoming Poisonous Weapons Tour, launching another era for one of modern metal’s most influential bands.
