Marvin Gaye was one of the biggest stars from the Motown label, a talent that tragically lost his life due to a fatal gunshot wound in 1984. Marvin was only 44, and he and his father had been fighting in their Los Angeles home most of the day until that fateful moment.
Dr. Dre, a big fan of Marvin made news this week, shared that he has been working on a biopic about Marvin for over a year, and Hollywood executives expect a solid project to be delivered in 2019. Dre has invested a great deal of his own money in this authorized film, acquiring the rights to use Marvin’s music for the film, a legal step every producer must take.
In just 44 years Marvin became the star of Motown, landing a prestigious star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, winning both the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and individual Grammys, and being inducted into the Rock and Roll and Songwriters Hall of Fame. There is no date or additional info on the Dre Marvin Gaye film, but we’ll keep you posted.
