The song “Blacklight Shine”, is the first new track to be released by The Mars Volta in over a decade. Along with the release of the new song, they have announced a North American tour that will start on September 23rd in Dallas and finishes on October 21st in Los Angeles. However, Bixler-Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez the bands core, has yet to announce details of the bands full lineup. Tickets will be publicly available starting this Friday, more information can be found on the band’s website, themarsvoltaofficial.com. The newest track by The Mars Volta includes singing in both Spanish and English. Accompanying the track is an 11 minute long short film which was directed by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, the band’s guitarist and composer. Bixler-Zavala had this to say about how the song’s lyrics explore a concept of, “a wave of rolling blackouts washing memories onto shore, a heartbeat that still remembers everything.”
