Marine Science Camp For Young Women by Female Scientists

According to ABC Action News, Serena McRae is having one of the best days ever. At just 13 years old, the middle schooler plans on going into marine science, and today she got to have the experience of a lifetime by piloting an underwater drone at an Aquarium in Florida. “I never thought I’d get to do something like this!” McRae is quoted in saying.  McRae is one of the lucky young girls that gets to be a part of a STEM summer camp called “Mission: Tampa Bay”, where middle school girls from the Hillsborough County area are taught all about marine science and the environment by Female Scientist’s who are a part of the field. “[STEM programs for girls are] essential for the workplace and society, these girls will be leaders in more ways than one said Dr. Tracy Fanara an NOAA scientist. Important STEM programs like these are making sure that these young women of the future are more then capable of carrying the torch.
