Mariah Carey Duets With Her 11-Year-Old Daughter Monroe at First Post-COVID Christmas Concert

At her first live concert since the pandemic, Mariah Carey brought out her daughter, Monroe, to duet with her at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Friday night for the carol “Away in a Manger.” Both wore sparkly white dresses and tiaras and sat for the song on a set that included Christmas trees, presents and toy soldiers.

Carey said in her introduction, “This is my baby girl, here, Eleven years ago, I got the greatest gift. You know what, I don’t have birthdays, but the birthing day was the greatest gift ever, when I had my twins Roc and Roe [Moroccan and Monroe], and once again I’d like to introduce you to my daughter, Monroe. This is our first duet, Alright, this is a beautiful, beautiful hymn called ‘Away in a Manger.’ We’ve been working on this one for a minute.”

Carey got the song started before her daughter joined in without looking nervous at all, she sang beautifully and got roars of approval from the audience. “My daughter, Miss Monroe,” Carey proudly stated at the end of the song.

The Merry Christmas to All! Concert was Carey’s first of four, with two in Toronto and two in New York City at Madison Square Garden. The setlist was mostly made up of Christmas songs, including a finale with “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Carey also has a two hour concert special that will be aired on December 20th on CBS and Paramount+.
