Maren Morris Proudly Embraces Pride in Heartfelt Instagram Post

Country and pop star Maren Morris has shared a personal revelation with her fans, announcing on Instagram that she is bisexual. Following a performance in Phoenix as part of her RSVP Redux Tour, Morris posted a heartfelt message: “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+.” The singer added, “Happy pride,” along with a rainbow emoji, celebrating her identity during Pride Month.

Morris’s announcement included images of her energetically performing on stage while waving a rainbow pride flag. The declaration came as a powerful and public acknowledgment of her place within the LGBTQ+ community, an acronym that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer, with the plus sign encompassing other sexual identities.

This revelation follows a significant period of change in Morris’s personal life. Last October, she filed for divorce from her husband, fellow country singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple, who share a four-year-old son, officially separated the same day as the filing, having been married for five years. Their divorce was finalized in January. The pair had collaborated professionally as well, releasing the duet “Chasing After You” in 2021.

Morris’s tour, which continues with a performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on Tuesday, has been a platform for her to connect with fans through her music and personal journey. The singer-songwriter has been known for her bold and honest approach to her artistry and personal life, making this recent announcement a continuation of her transparent engagement with her audience.

In September, Morris released The Bridge, an EP that marked a significant moment in her career. Featuring the songs “The Tree” and “Get the Hell Out of Here,” the EP was seen as her departure from mainstream country music. In a statement at the time, Morris reflected on the themes of the songs: “These two songs are incredibly key to my next step because they express a very righteously angry and liberating phase of my life these last couple of years but also how my navigation is finally pointing towards the future, whatever that may be or sound like.”

As Morris embraces her identity and continues her journey both personally and professionally, her openness and courage resonate with many, especially during a time of celebration and recognition for the LGBTQ+ community.
