Luke Combs has been Invited to Join the Grand Ole Opry

2019 just keeps getting better for Country star Luke Combs. The singer songwriter was recently invited to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.

On Tuesday night, June 11th, the country crooner was making his sixteenth appearance on the iconic stage. Combs’ set was only two songs, which got interupted when Craig Morgan, John Conlee and Chris Janson came out to join him on stage.

“How would you like to be the next member of the Grand Ole Opry?” Morgan and Janson asked in unison as Conlee stood beside them. Left speechless, Combs simply hugged all three men. with tears in his eyes.

“Since making his Opry debut a little less than three years ago, Luke has become a favorite of fans and fellow artists here at the Opry while simultaneously becoming a chart-topping bona fide country music superstar,” said Opry general manager Sally Williams in a statement. “We’ve loved every minute of his Opry visits and are thrilled to invite him to become an official part of the Opry family. Luke’s heart is filled with love and genuine appreciation for the Opry, and we are excited this will be his musical home throughout what will no doubt be a long and rewarding career full of great music.”

“Holy cow! Are you serious?” he asked as they walked off the stage. “OK. ‘Cause if you’re not serious, that’d be really mean.” Combs then fought back tears to finish his set.
