Louis Vuitton Launches Capsule Collection for America’s Cup Sailing Race in Barcelona

In honor of the upcoming Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Barcelona sailing race, the namesake French fashion house has revealed a nautical-themed capsule collection filled with a bevy of men’s and women’s silhouettes inspired by the storied yacht race’s history.

As Hypebeast reports, the America’s Cup, established in 1851, is the world’s oldest international sporting trophy. Louis Vuitton has sponsored the competition since 1983, when it began hosting the Louis Vuitton Cup, or the race that determines which teams will compete in the America’s Cup. In October of last year, the luxury label struck a major deal to become the title partner of the renowned race, which is scheduled to take place in Barcelona from August 29 to October 27.

Toasting to the occasion, Louis Vuitton’s latest capsule is filled with ready-to-wear, bags, and accessories that tastefully nod to the sailing regatta. The line is divided into three categories: “Riding the Waves” for technical silhouettes, “A Day on the Deck” for sportswear, and “Elegant Summer Evening” for eveningwear.

The America’s Cup logo — a faithful “V” imagined by Gaston-Louis Vuitton — plants itself across the lineup. “Riding the Waves” includes “skipper” windbreakers and shorts, as well as a waterproof-canvas Keepall and a water-repellent Sailor Sling. “A Day on the Deck,” meanwhile, houses reversible windbreakers, graphic button-downs, swimwear and bucket hats alongside the LV Trainer sneaker and the LV Oasis mules, among other silhouettes. Rounding out the range, “Elegant Summer Evening” sees double-breasted jackets, flared trousers, long column dresses, suede loafers and more.

Louis Vuitton’s 37th America’s Cup Barcelona capsule collections will launch online and in stores on July 18.
