According to consequence.net, a demo of Lou Reed’s Velvet Underground epic “Heroin” was recently released for the upcoming archival album Words & Music, May 1965. Remastered from an old tape, the version is considered to be the song’s earliest recording. The version follows an acoustic folk style similar to, “I’m Waiting for the Man.” The album including this unqiue version of the track will be arriving on August 26th via Light in the Attic Records in partnership with Reed’s widow Laurie Anderson. Another digital Ep titled Gee Whiz, 1958-1964 will follow on October 7th for fans to experience even more versions of Lou Reed’s older music and is already available for preordering.
