Lions Roar Back: Gibbs’ Three TDs Fuel 44–30 Win Over Cowboys

The Detroit Lions entered Thursday night’s primetime clash with the Dallas Cowboys needing a win, and they delivered in emphatic fashion: a 44–30 triumph that significantly improves their playoff chances and snaps a downward skid.

From the outset, it was obvious Detroit was playing with purpose. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs drained the Cowboys early with a one‑yard plunge, and later tacked on two more rushing scores — including the game‑winner with just over two minutes remaining. His three-touchdown night was the defining feature of a Lions performance built on urgency and opportunism.

Quarterback Jared Goff provided steady leadership through the air, completing 25 of 34 passes for 309 yards and a TD, finding tight end Isaac TeSlaa in the red zone to extend the Lions’ lead. Meanwhile, Detroit’s defense — reinvigorated after a slump — registered multiple sacks and forced key turnovers, turning the tone of the game in the second half.

On the Cowboys side, Dak Prescott continued to generate yards, throwing for 376 yards and a touchdown, but costly mistakes — two interceptions — along with turnovers at critical moments undermined their comeback attempts. Despite gaining more total yardage than Detroit, Dallas just couldn’t overcome the Lions’ big plays and finishing punch.

With the win, Detroit improves to 8‑5 and builds real momentum in their playoff push. For Dallas, the loss stalls what had been a promising run and now tightens the margin for error if they hope to stay in the Wild Card hunt.
